Slab & Lumber Inventory

All our wood is locally salvaged by us (often within 30 miles of Asheville), saving carbon from the atmosphere. Each tree has a local provenance and story. We have the whole tree to play with, helping you color and grain match. 

Yes, we carry high grade dimensional lumber! Yes, we can ship (minimums apply)!

Generally we mill dimensional lumber in 4/4-16/4 and live edge slabs over 20″ wide in 6/4-16/4. We quartersaw and mill for rift in such woods as oak, sycamore and walnut.  We mill table top slabs for book-matches and we are highly selective about lumber quality.  We take our time and DO NOT RUSH the air-drying process before finishing completely in a wood or vacuum kiln.

Species available include walnut, white oaks, black cherry, maples (silver, red, box elder, ambrosia, spalted & burly), elms, European and American beech, ash, cedar, locust, dawn redwood and more. 

We may also have Chinese chestnut, magnolia, catalpa, sweet gum, paulownia, tulip (yellow or rainbow poplar), sycamore, birch (river, white, red), basswood and more. Our inventory is broad and ever-changing (for instance, recently we were lucky to have some reclaimed dimensional kosso, black limba, shedua and figured hickory, as well as burly scots elm and giant fiddleback silver maple).

As fine furniture makers ourselves, we take pride in the essential, careful, time-tested and patient process of air-drying and then kiln drying our material, for both our own use and that of the larger woodworking community and public, maximizing this under-appreciated material stream for best and highest local and regional use.
